What does the Fellowship entail?

Read more about the Fellowship here.

Who can apply?

People or groups who have an existing practice working towards social & ecological justice in their community or context, in Indonesia and other parts of the world. We welcome applicants coming from diverse fields, including but not limited to: farming, land rights, ecological activism, arts, culture, action research, indigenous (“adat”) rights and ecofeminism; and who are excited to join a temporary online community of fellow practitioners with whom to share ideas, knowledge and skills; learn together; and build solidarity amongst different contexts and communities.

Can I apply if I live outside of Indonesia?

Yes. The collective parts of the Fellowship will be conducted online, so you can join from anywhere. However, during the 7-week programme, the Fellows’ work on social and ecological justice in their own context will naturally continue and will provide an important root for the Fellowship itself.

What language is the Fellowship conducted in?

English and Indonesian. Although we would love to offer translation for all languages, there will be interpreters joining us for the two weekly collective meetings to translate our words from English to Indonesian and vice versa.

Do I have to pay to participate in the Fellowship?

No. Our Fellowship is free of charge. Fellows will however require access to an Internet connection and need to be able to commit time to the program (see below).

Are there scholarships available to participate in the Fellowship?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide grants or financial support to participate in our Fellowship. However, as part of the Fellowship, we will have a modest “collective pot” available to support the Fellows’ contribution to the ‘The World is Our Household!’ (TWIOH) Forum and/or other TWIOH program strands (rooted in their local practice). The collective pot will be co-managed by the selected Fellows and the SFS team.

What is the time commitment?

Selected Fellows will need to be able to commit a minimum of 6 hours a week to the Fellowship (which is divided across three 2-hour meetings and scheduled collectively), as well as time to prepare their contribution to the TWIOH program, which will be developed during the Fellowship. Fellows don’t need to prepare anything in advance.
