Solidarity Initiatives and Food Security Tactics during the Pandemic

PDF

The first event in our online programme was a sharing session with individual, collective, community kitchens and alternative distribution platforms connecting farmers directly to consumers in the city, all set up as a form of solidarity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Civil solidarity initiatives can be a form of response to the uncertainties we face during the pandemic as a common tactic to face the vulnerability of access to food. We were joined by Fajar Rianto from Dapur Umum Kolektif (“Collective Community Kitchen”, Yogyakarta); Anang Saptoto from Panen Apa Hari Ini (“What’s the Harvest Today?”, Yogyakarta) and Rahmadiyah Tria Gayathri from Masak untuk Kawan (“Cooking for Friends”, Palu) who shared and reflected on their practice and the possibilities to survive the crisis through direct action. The event was moderated by Eliesta Handitya (Struggles for Sovereignty).

This event took place on: Friday, 10 July 2020, 15.30-17.30 (+7 GMT)
